Fixture Shielding Requirements
Compliant fixtures use full-cutoff optics with minimum 15° shielding angle below horizontal. Reflector design must prevent light from escaping above the fixture's horizontal plane. Lens materials must be UV-stable polycarbonate or tempered glass to maintain optical performance over 10+ years.ars.
Lumen Distribution and Beam Angles
Dark Sky compliant fixtures typically use 40-60° beam angles to concentrate light on target surfaces. Wider 90°+ angles require additional shielding and are rarely compliant. Color Temperature Restrictions
IDA recommends 2700K or warmer for outdoor lighting to minimize circadian disruption and wildlife impact. Fixtures with color temperatures above 3000K face restrictions in sensitive areas. Bojing's standard outdoor line defaults to 2700K with 3000K available upon request.est.
Certification Process and Documentation
